I went to
Bountiful Baskets this morning and came home with a laundry basket full of fruits and vegetables for the week. I really like the idea of a community food co-op because it makes fruit and vegetables more affordable, forces me to integrate more variety into our diet, and supports local farmers.
The following is what I brought home for 15 bucks in my basket:
1 Bag Grapes
8 apples
3 Pomegranates
Bananas
3 Grapefruit
4 Oranges
1 head broccoli
1 bag carrots
2 heads of lettuce
3 bundles of leeks
4 large tomatoes
2 cucumbers
2 zucchini
1 cantaloupe
And this is what I'm gonna do with it this week:
Monday-
Luscious Lima Bean Soup and
Salad with Pomegranate and Pecans
Tuesday-
Crisby Orange Beef, Broccoli, Brown Rice
Wednesday- BLT Sandwiches with Sweet Potato Fries and
Cucumer and Tomato Salad
Thursday-
Cassoulet and good bread
Friday-
Tortilla Pie with Chicken and leftover Cucumber and Tomato Salad or basic salad
Saturday- Free Day
Sunday-
Lime Chicken Soft Tacos
Snack:
Broiled Grapefruit
Dessert:
Peanut Butter Candy Cookies
