Welcome to my blog! My name is Laura. I'm 28 years old, happily married, and have the best almost-two-year-old named Jackson. I was born in Northridge, CA, spent my formative years in Kernville, CA, and grew up as a teenager in Bakersfield, CA. Since then, I've lived in Utah, Hawaii, and Uruguay, and am currently back in
the beehive state (Utah).
My pastimes include running half marathons, playing the piano, reading good books, enjoying the outdoors, hanging out with my man and best boy, and of course, cooking. I have no formal training as a chef or a nutritionist, and only cooked in college when I had someone to cook for. After getting married, I decided it was important to me to have a healthful dinner on the table every night and to help my family develop a healthy food perspective.
I figure if I'm trying to feed my family nutrient dense meals most of the time then I'm doing my job right. Food is meant to be enjoyed. Join me in my quest to establish a tradition of mostly healthy, always delicious food in my home.
FAQS
Q: There are a lot of Eastern-European recipes on this site. Why?
A: I'm a quarter Armenian. My great-grandparents moved to America from a small village in Turkey. I don't speak Turkish or Armenian, but I LOVE Mediterranean food and it's my goal to pass on this part of my heritage to my children.
Q: What kind of camera do you have? Why are your pictures so craptastic?
A: I have a Nikon D40X. As far as I know, that's an awesome camera, but evidently skill is also involved in taking pictures. I am a work in progress.
Q: What are your favorite things to eat?
A: I love international cuisine, southwestern ingredients, fruits, veggies, frozen goodies and chocolate. My husband doesn't like Rocky Road icecream but we're working on overcoming this hurdle in our relationship.
Q: Can I offer suggestions on recipes, layout, etc.?
A: Yes please.
